- Take arrowroot powder
- Get jaggery
- Prepare water
- Make ready Chopped coconut
- Take Grated coconut
- Get ghee
And among it my personal favourite is payasam. Thirivadirai is auspicious for Lord Shiva and falls in the month of Marghazhi. Thiruvathirai kali and Ezhukari Kootu are prepared on this day. In our family, we prepare only the Kali and the Thalagam for Thiruvathirai neivedhyam, but I came to know that Rice flour Jaggery Adai is also part of Thiruvathirai Festival for many families.
Steps to make Thiruvaathira payasam:
- Melt jaggery with a little water in a pan
- Mix arrowroot and water in a pan
- Place the pan on heat. Stir for a couple of minutes and add the jaggery mixture.
- Continue to stir making sure no lumps are formed.
- Stir till the consistency is like shown
- Remove from flame.
- Fry chopped coconut in ghee and garnish the payasam mixture.
- Serve immediately. Tastes best when served hot.
