Grind the chana dal with salt and. Traditionally, Vadacurry is a dish made with leftover vadai. It was perfected by the local restaurants in Tamil Nadu which were looking for a way to use up the leftover vadai which they make the previous day.   1. Soak Chana dal for about 2 hours.
  2. Drain the water completely and Grind it into coarse paste along with other ingredients in soak and grind section. If required just sprinkle very little water.
  3. Wet your hand and take a ball sized ground paste and flatten it. Deep fry in medium flame. No need to wait until the Vada turns brown. Fry it until the outer layer starts changing color.
  4. Cut the vadas into smaller pieces
  5. Heat a pan with 2 tbsp oil. Add all the spices and sauté well. Add onion, sauté until transparent. Add tomato, sauté until it becomes soft. Add all spice powders and sauté for a minute. Add a cup of water and bring it to boil. Add cut vadas and bring it to boil.
  6. Grind everything under grind section and add it to the gravy.
  7. Let it boil until the gravy gets thicken. Add water if required.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves
  9. Serve with idli or dosa
